Yes, I vaguely remember hearing some thing about the Furies. Was that one of Mr. Schaeffer's digressions (Mr. Schaeffer being our high school biology teacher)? Who that was I forget, but I do remember that something was said about the disjointed and convoluted mythology of the Furies, who climb onto roofs from whence to launch angry tirades of a Furious nature. It was a German thing, maybe centered in the Rhine Valley, so maybe that would be a reason to keep the front door locked at night, because although they Furies may have some good points, who knows what else is on their agenda.
