Yes, what was all that chatter from Gwen Nelson about her Cruz, as if I should care about those unknown strangers, As if I should care about whether there is ever going to be a Cuban or Hispanic president. I cannot say yes or no, only that time will tell.

Yes, I vaguely remember that you were talking about the ship caulkers, the English ship builders who built the ships that were successful in averting the intended invasion of the Spanish Armada. The Spanish still agonize about their loss to Elizabeth I, but perhaps their land invasion will have a different result in moderns times. It will not be so easy later to deflect the relentless incursions of invaders, so the ships of yore might not be all that effective in future.

Yes, I vaguely remember that there was a time when it might have made sense for me to move to Louisiana, such as the time when someone called me from there to sound me out on whether I would be interested in applying for a job there, but later I never did apply there. It just seemed that I could have been waking into an awkward thing, even though I was sort of aware of some of those people there. And then even later than that I was getting so much unpleasant online mail from those guys who were offering some sort of unpleasant and illogical Rental situation, that I was definitely persuaded to never go there, especially not now. 

Yes, whatever happened to those Rental guys? I do not really have anything very pleasant in mind to say about them, but why go out of my way to  make some irrelevant points about them when I have almost no thought of them.

Yes, I vaguely remembe when Margot was talking about having seen that movie, "The Exorcist." Was that a class report or was that her chattering during study hall? I cannot imagine ever going to see such an evil movie.

 Yes, aren't you all just the worst-case scenario friends-of-Job? And who is going to remember the time in high school, during Miss Marken's class, when we were discussing whether there is any sound at all produced if a tree falls in the forest and there is no one there to hear it? I tend to think that sound waves were produced by the crashing tree, but there was no ear there to hear that, so the potential for sound was not fulfilled.

Yes, you probably noticed how my life seems sort of hexed, 3everything I do just falls apart eventually so I do not know why you would be so optimistic about nothing much. Do you always harass 75-year-old people to fork over their life savings?

Yes, I really did have such a nice time during my years in Virginia. One unexpected surprise that I had not asked for was when I was elected to represent the journalism people at the Board, I think that it was called the Shepherd's Board. Although that happened during my last semester there, and there was not much time for me to do very much with that, bu I did attend one meeting where I delivered the message that the requested by the people who had elected me. So that was an interesting experience.
