Yes, I do not think that I was ever in need of any legal services from the Cole family lawyers whatever his name was, nor do I consider myself owing a dime in legal fees to them.

Which Reminds Me
Which Reminds Me
Yes, I vaguely remember that almost their entire campus history became embroiled in a college talent show that was staged by themselves, starring mostly themselves, and organized by mostly themselves. Given that complete information was not provided, I cannot explain why the lawyer in-law of the Cole family, who was apparently in the audience that evening, launched some sort of legal complaint about the copyright infringements inherent in the talent show skits that were based on various TV show scenarios and songs borrowed from what was popular at that time on TV and radio. Most of the information that I had was via Lynda, which is to say not necessarily complete information, only that the Cole lawyer believed that the college should be paying an ASCAP fee to cover these various usages of copyrighted music and skit materials from such shows as "I Love Lucy," "Sonny and Cher" and the "Carol Burnett Show." How that was resolved by the college I really have no idea. Who was saying that I was in cahoots with the Cole family lawyer? I never discussed this matter with them and did not know anything about it. I had a tiny bit part singing in a choir and that might as well count as nothing because I might as well not have been there at all and I would rather forget about that, thanks anyway. And now they sit there like a ton of bricks waiting for nothing to happen, because I really didn't care that much. That wasn't about me. I would rather avoid provoking those prickly pears so obviously I would not be involved in launching any legal complaint, never mind that my Calkins grandparents were close friends of the parents of the lawyer's wife, and besides, who thinks of that while sitting in an audience? Only a lawyer on the bar.

Which Reminds Me
Which Reminds Me
Yes, I vaguely remember that when I was 14 years of age, my mother took me out to lunch, and we went to that restaurant inside of a large department store, whch had a Don Quixote theme, and there were pictures of Don Quixote and Sancho Panza all over the walls and everywhere. The Don Quixote theme is very frequently seen carved in wood or in paintings, especially in Spanish-speaking countries. We tend to forget about that here in the U.S.,, we don't see that so much here, but over there it is a very big thing .

Yes, geography being what it is, and the geographers being who they are, perhaps of varying degrees of usefulness, and the various islands of the sea being more or less where they have been for hundreds of years past, I do not see any reason to make some convoluted disturbance out of that point. I suppose you have your reasons, but you never did make any sense to us.

Which Reminds Me
Yes, I cannot help but wonder where is the U.S. military when I need them to protect me from the muttered threats of this blithering idiot cruise missile. How dare you threaten me, the U.S. citizen you are sworn to defend! Who are you anyway? Why should I care about your glitchy political wiring?
Which Reminds Me
Yes, I vaguely remember during high school when I was invited to try out for the girls' baseball team. Oh, they were playing hardball but I had not realized that until later. I had done well enough with softball, but anyway at the hardball tryouts there were several girls lined up, and I was chosen to go to bat first. I swung three times and struck out each time, so I was out and did not quality, obviously. After that all of the others after me walked, choosing not to swing the bat three times, and thus with no effort to be assured of their small modicum of progress in reward for not presenting any show of opposition to Kathy's dominance in sports. Yes, and if I had known beforehand how that was going to work, I too would have walked, because the only thing certain, it seemed, was that no bat would ever connect to Kathy's pitch, and it wasn't worth fighting about that anyway and also am not that interested in sports if truth be told. So whatever that meant.
