Yes, I cannot tell you how many books I read on the topic of self-esteem and the need for cultivating my self-esteem no matter what those bullies say about me, to the point where I have been somewhat inoculated from the need to get any affirmation from those horrid brats.

Yes, he always did hate it when I would whip him at Monopoly, Clue, Yahtzee, Boggle, etc. So whatever. Not that I always won, but I won enough points to fend for myself.

Yes, thanks to the Doctor at University for telling us a story about Abelard during our interesting theology classwork. I did not see then what that connected to, but 10 years of reading do make quite a difference.

Yes, I think that I have often mentioned my tendency to shoot myself in the foot. That may sound self-denigrating to you, and yet if I do not acknowledge my human frailties in a public way, I will be harassed until I eventually do that, so better to resolve that question early in the debate, and present myself as a humble and unpretentious person not prone to delusions of granduer, before my virtuous achievements instill an intimidating greenish tinge in your envy-driven sin-sunk complexion, thus to head off such a problem before it starts, or at least gets too much out of control. 

When I was about eight years old, I vaguely remember being told that it was okay to use the word "shoot" for this exact purpose, so that became a somewhat habitual usage during my youth, because I do often shoot myself in the foot. Needless to say. At that time it had not occurred to me that this word might be misunderstood for another similar-sounding word that I had never heard of. I was not raised in a place where I ever heard such words used. I might have heard that once or twice when I was 12, having returned to the U.S., but generally that is not a word that was used by anyone that I know. 

Yes, makes you wonder in what sewer was that little dog Sue raised, anyway? Arf arf arf1 I really would not know anything else about that. For me it is a long way down to the level of Sue.

Yes, I vaguely remember that our teacher in 8th grade was Mrs. Grace Richardson, who was from the Grace Brethren church denomination, whereas some of the children in our school Academy were Plymouth Brethren, which was considered to be a bit more severe and exclusivist than the Grace Brethren, although either might seem severe to outsiders not part of the Brethren thing. The women never cut their hair, they wear a somewhat old-fashioned stye of clothing, not to mention that they are mostly Canadians. However, Mrs. Richardson was very deep in the word and schooled us well with frequent sword drills and memorization day was on Fridays, so just because some people might seem legalistic to you, that does not mean that there is nothing to learn from them given the right circumstances, if the atmosphere would ever clear up enough to talk to them.

Yes, I vaguely remember that when I was about 10 years old, in El Salvador we had a visitor from Peru or Ecuador, who was Jack Garlit, a missionary there, who was telling us some things about those countries, and how they often hear the music of the Inca Indians, who are fond of a certain type of flute, which makes a sort of melancholy tone, and other instruments. So that was interesting. He read the story that I had written and suggested that I send it to headquarters for publication, but I never did that. 

Years later, his daughter Carol (who married Mark Johnson) was saying they have made all sorts of plans incorporation myself into her private fantasy life, of which I know nothing. Maybe they could explain what they were expecting me to do about that, because I doubt that I would ever be able to reconstruct anything from these antiquated references.  

Anyway, I do not think that it is within my powers to "fix" the meaning of all this stuff.

Yes, I seem to be hearing the evil Jill & Linda Hairindumb witch flitting around on her broomstick. Well, excuse me for asking a stupid question. Am I the only person on this planet who ever asked a stupid question that I did not really need to ask? No, probably not. So why is it only I that gets all this nonsensical stuff in return?
