Which Reminds Me

Yes, that is sort of annoying, perusing Mrs. Walker's three-volume history book about the work in Latin America, in which each country has a chapter, to note that she forgot to mention us under the chapter of "El Salvador," in the first volume, Even so, Susie's picture appears but you would never know that I existed if you go only by the writings of Mrs. Walker. And also, in the third volume, under the chapter of "Dominican Republic," there is a mention made of my Dad being in El Salvador and preparing lessons for the Royal Rangers of D.R., the Rangers being an educational program for boys, in the same paragraph as something about George Davis. So perhaps we could drive a truck through the holes in Mrs. Walker's history book, but anyway, why would I want to argue with the saintly elders of Peru? What is in print is the only thing that some people can remember, but anyway, if only God knows what happened, perhaps that is enough to know.

Which Reminds Me

Yes, I vaguely remember Mrs. Walker saying that they are dropping me off somewhere, sort of a way of saying not to expect anything from the Walkers, the Walkers will not be putting out the welcome mat for me. Oh, and I had completely forgotten about the Walkers. Who were the Walkers? The only Walkers that I had ever heard of were living in Peru earlier, but now who knows where the Walkers are scattered about on the globe. Given that I was not expecting to hear from the Walkers anyway, it does seem odd that the Walkers would go out of their way to disassociate themselves from me so forcefully, given that on my own I never would have thought of contacting them anyway. What is Peru? What is Chile? What is Argentina? What is Ecuador? Those of the South America region doubtless have diverging notions about how things should be or should have been done, but anyway, whatever, it is too late now to rewrite history. Anyway, if the Walkers want to think of Peru as the gold standard for how things should be, they are entitled to their own opinion. She wrote a book, "Peruvian Gold." Whether or not we are of another opinion is beside the point in this matter.

Which Reminds Me

Yes, I vaguely remember that during sixth grade, there was a John Stuart, or was it Jon Stuart?, attending our little school. He was an eighth grader, as were Jody Houk and Jeff Wilder. Those guys got the idea of making a military club of the school, and assigned us ranks more or less corresponding to our grade level. Thus, I am outranked by the Stuart as well as by Susie Stewart, who was a grade higher than us, and on a level with Sammy and Dawn, and don't you forget that.

Coincidentally, I recently read somewhere that Hitler's living descendants are the Stuart-Houston family. And who would know whether Jon Stuart was Hitler's cousin-in-law? Houston is only a state of mind, not a Not-see hideout that I know of. But I do not know much.

Which Reminds Me

Yes, I really cannot imagine there being anything that I would need to discuss with Mr. Yanko Die-A-Critical, who is occasionally glimpsed wielding the Accusative Case on automatic pilot. Enough of that.

Which Reminds Me

Yes, I vaguely remember hearing that Mr. Coffey had died, and that his family was not interested in fact-checking. They probably forgot that Becky was his tour guide, but there is not much that I can actually say about that in a public way from my hearsay viewpoint. The only thing that I can remember is the time that he took us all out for an evening of bowling at the one and only bowling alley.

Which Reminds Me

Yes, I vaguely remember hearing you say that you are going to put on me all the people that I don't like, and my answer to that would be that, anyway, you already did that and the result is that here we are back again at ground zero, the starting point, as if nothing had ever happened anyway. And anyway, there won't be enough time left over now before I am due to check out of this planetary existence, so you will have to take up your quarrel with the next generation, because anyway, it was never my job to conduct brain surgery on those Bohemian deviants. I just had no clue. And who are you? We were never properly introduced.

Which Reminds Me

Yes, I vaguely remember learning that our Barth ancestor was from Saxony, a southern region of Germany, or else Baden, depending on which document you happen to be looking at. So obviously we are not Bohemians. And then there is another ancestor who traces back to Prussia. So, yes, we are not Bohemians. However, the said Barth ancestor immigrated to America in 1849, at age 53, bringing his family of five children born in Germany. Thus we skipped all of that other German history that came later. We just don't know much about that.
