"Laughter the Best Medicine," is the name of a column in the monthly magazine "Reader's Digest," from which Grandma Calkins loved to read excerpts aloud to anyone within earshot. In her bookshelf she had every copy of "Reader's Digest" magazine starting from 1939, so there is a veritable treasure chest of good humor if you are so inclined. Of course, that is good humor presented for mass consumption, not to be confused with the crude and vulgar bad humor dispensed by the primitive peoples that does not deserve mass publication.
