Yes, I vaguely remember reading that book, the Diaries of Anne Frank, which is often recommended as a titular example of humanity extinguished by the Holocaust, who ultimately died in the Holocaust, sadly, although her diaries talk about the devices of living in hiding while trying to avoid such a horrible death, although ultimately discovered and turned in by someone, and beyond that her diaries talk much about her adolescent fantasy life revealing herself to be precociously advanced and awakened in her thought life to other facets of humanity that perhaps I was not ready to discuss or explore at the time that I read the book.
