Yes, I vaguely remember that someone was trying to make some points about veteran, the noun vs the adjective. Some people are vociferously saying they will only honor veterans, and not missionaries. Ok, fine. A veteran as noun is often assumed to be a member of the armed services whereas a veteran used as an adjective denotes many years of experience at something, usually a particular vocation. Similar points have been made about the use of "Pioneer" as the founding members vs. the pilgrims who arrived in the Mayflower. Ok, fine. We get that.
