Which Reminds Me

Two completely separate incidents as far as I can see: 
1917: My great-grandfather's passport is signed by Samuel Sokobin, an American vice consul.
1923: Charles Colton is killed at Kalgan, near the Great Wall, and, interestingly, Samuel Sokobin is there.

Interestingly, Charles Colton's father, Robert, lived for many years in China working for Standard Oil.

Interesting how Standard Oil has all these connections all over the world.
