Yes, hard to believe that in the 19th century there actually was a missions group that was partly sponsored by the United States government, the ABCFM. How could that happen? Certainly such a thing could not happen in today's environment, obviously. But yet we may feel obligated to support their products on a government level somehow, given that many of the missions organizations of yesteryear have disappeared somehow. Assurances of a doctrinal nature may be too much to ask given that there can be no agreement on any of these points, obviously. But at least a museum honoring their work in an objective sort of way might be something to consider. We can't just pretend that they were nothing given that our national honor is attached to that somehow. I am just saying.
