Yes, we are learning only now that the Colonel had previously dumped his second wife Mayme before marrying his third wife, who was Julia, my grandmother's sister. Who was this Mayme I have no idea. I imagine that it could probably be dangerous to speculate about persons so unconnected to myself, of whom I know absolutely nothing beyond the dead letters of the public record as unearthed on Ancestry.com. And anyway, so what? Are we not all relieved to be rid of the Colonel and his noxious baggage?
